Pilates Philosphy

Thought, sensation, emotion, cellular changes, immune responses, anxiety, serenity, they are all intertwined. In Pilates, I find that uniting the dichotomous paradigm through the act of focusing on how one's moving, which muscles are (or are not) working, and keeping precise form on the subtle scale allows the body to truly heal and let go of chronic tension patterns.

Do you tense your shoulders to move your head? Does your breath give you the base for a strong core? An anxious disposition? An ease in posture? Does your pelvis move in congruence and harmony in its deeper and more superficial muscle layers? Do your deep spinal muscles "know" when to engage and support your back as a whole? How does standing tall with no tension affect your day-to-day life? Your interactions with others? The way you handle our often-stressful society? Your sense of self?

I believe that through 19 years of teaching, I've developed a keen eye for detail, a clear manner of teaching, and a compassionate way of working with others to support this path of life that we all walk on together.
